Our care

What we offer

01

Psychiatry & Medication Management

Psychiatric care at Pelican Medical Group begins with a thorough, unhurried diagnostic evaluation — one that situates your symptoms inside the full story of your life, not just a symptom checklist. From there, your psychiatrist partners with you on medication decisions, explaining the reasoning, monitoring your response carefully, and adjusting as your needs evolve. You are never handed a prescription and left to figure the rest out alone.

Couples & Family Care

Relational work at Pelican Medical Group acknowledges what most people already sense: that the people we love most are often the ones we find hardest to talk to. Couples and family sessions are structured to create enough safety for honest conversation, with a clinician who can hold the space without taking sides. The goal is not to eliminate conflict but to change what conflict costs you.

Specialty Care

Beyond general mental health care, Pelican Medical Group offers focused programming for conditions and life circumstances that benefit from targeted clinical attention. These specialty tracks bring together relevant expertise, tailored treatment planning, and peer-informed understanding of what it actually feels like to live with a particular challenge. If your situation has felt too specific for a general approach, this is the place to start.

Psychotherapy

Therapy here is individual, relational, and paced to you. Your therapist will draw from whatever evidence-based approach fits your particular situation — whether that's working through patterns that began long ago, developing concrete skills for the present, or finding language for experiences that have felt unspeakable. Sessions are a full therapeutic hour, and the relationship you build with your clinician is treated as the engine of the work.

Telehealth

Secure video appointments extend the same quality of care you'd receive in our offices to wherever you are in Louisiana — your living room, your lunch break, a quiet corner of wherever life has taken you. The platform is HIPAA-compliant, the sessions are full-length, and the relationship with your clinician carries seamlessly between in-person and virtual visits. Geography should never be the reason someone doesn't get help.

About the practice

Pelican Medical Group

Some places feel clinical the moment you walk in. Pelican Medical Group was built to feel like the opposite of that. From your first call to your hundredth session, we want you to feel recognized, unhurried, and genuinely cared for.

Our clinical team is composed of board-certified psychiatrists and independently licensed therapists (psychologists, clinical social workers, marriage and family therapists, mental health counselors). We deliver care both in person and through secure telehealth, and we work with most major commercial insurance plans.

Common questions

Frequently asked

How long does it typically take to get an appointment after I reach out?
We work to schedule new patients as promptly as we can, and our intake coordinator will give you a realistic timeline when you first contact us. Availability varies by clinician type and specialty need, so reaching out sooner rather than later gives us the best chance of matching you well and getting you started without a long wait.
Is telehealth available for all services, or only certain ones?
Secure video appointments are available for individual therapy, psychiatric care, and most follow-up visits across our services. Couples and family sessions may be offered via telehealth on a case-by-case basis depending on your clinician's assessment of what will serve you best. Your care coordinator can clarify which format is available for your specific situation.
What credentials do the clinicians at Pelican Medical Group hold?
Our psychiatrists are board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and our therapists hold full independent licensure in Louisiana — including LCSWs, LPCs, and LMFTs depending on their area of clinical focus. All clinicians meet our internal standards for ongoing training and are selected as much for their warmth and relational skill as for their academic and clinical preparation.
